Coenzyme Q10 (or Q10 for short) is a naturally occurring substance found in the energy centres (otherwise known as mitochondria) of almost every cell in our bodies.
This powerful antioxidant not only plays a vital role in energy production (sluggish cells are more susceptible to damage), it also neutralises free radicals to protect cells from the harmful effects of DNA damage. Like most substances in the body, levels of this free radical-fighting hero decrease with age, and supplementation is particularly recommended for anyone over the age of 34 trying to conceive in order to help preserve the DNA within the sperm and egg.
With over a decade of treating infertility, acupuncturist, herbalist and fertility health expert Ross J. Barr recognises that nutrition is often the most influential non-genetic factor in foetal development.
